Creator Partnership Readiness
Creator media kit evidence: a brand-ready checklist
Build a creator media kit with dated metrics, representative work, sharing boundaries and an update owner before sending it to a brand.

The direct answer: make the media kit a decision record
A creator media kit should help a brand decide whether to start a conversation, not try to prove that every campaign will perform. The useful package identifies the real account, shows what the creator consistently makes, explains recent audience and content evidence, and names the commercial formats the creator can actually deliver. It should also show when the evidence was captured and who can answer follow-up questions.
YouTube's official Media Kit already combines a channel bio, audience categories, key channel statistics, demographics, branded campaign videos and top videos for eligible YPP creators. TikTok Studio separates account, content, viewer and follower analytics. Those platform surfaces are useful inputs, but the creator still needs to select a coherent story, retain the source date and avoid turning estimated audience categories or one exceptional post into a guarantee.
Start with identity and contact ownership
Put the canonical channel or profile URL, current handle, creator name, primary market, working languages, content categories and a role-based business contact at the top. If a manager or agency handles deals, state that relationship and who owns negotiation, contracting, production approval and payment handoff. A recipient should never have to infer whether two similar handles belong to the same creator.
Do not place login details, recovery contacts, private phone numbers, tax information or payout data in the kit. If a platform supports a secondary business contact, as YouTube Creator Partnerships does, keep that routing current. The media kit should prove identity and responsibility without becoming a credential vault or a permanent copy of sensitive account data.
Build recent baselines by format, not one lifetime average
Use a consistent recent window and name it. For example, show the median public views for the last ten comparable long-form uploads, the median for recent Shorts or short videos, and the observation date. Add watch-time, retention, engaged-view or interaction context only when the platform provides it and it helps explain the content job. Keep livestreams, long-form, Shorts, Reels and TikTok videos in separate rows because their discovery and viewing paths differ.
A lifetime average can be dominated by old formats, one viral outlier or a changed view definition. The kit should state metric name, platform, format, sample, period and source beside each number. When a platform changes methodology, update the note before using old and new values together. If a metric cannot be reproduced from the creator's current dashboard, label it as historical or remove it.
- Metric and platform definition
- Format and comparable sample
- Median or distribution, not only a mean
- Observation date and export owner
- Known break in method or account state
Choose portfolio proof that matches the next brief
A brand needs representative evidence, not only the creator's four biggest hits. Select three to five examples that show the intended role: product explanation, workflow demonstration, lifestyle integration, live interaction, community education or conversion support. For each example, add the public URL, date, format, creator's role and a short note explaining why it is relevant. Separate confirmed sponsored work from public similar content and self-initiated editorial work.
YouTube allows creators to customize and hide parts of its generated Media Kit and select a limited number of videos. Apply the same editorial discipline across platforms: include the work that makes the intended decision easier. Do not imply that a public product mention was a paid collaboration, and do not disclose confidential brand results. If a case number cannot be shared, describe the deliverable and learning without inventing a performance claim.
Keep AI pitch assistance on the draft side of the evidence gate
At Made on YouTube on September 23, YouTube said Ask Studio will soon help eligible creators draft tailored responses to brand briefs, build proactive pitches and customize a Media Kit around a brand's goals. Treat that as a workflow announcement, not proof that the feature is already present in every account. The current Ask Studio Help page says access and answer quality can vary, and creators should use discretion rather than rely on it for professional advice.
Before using an AI-assisted response, freeze the received brief, mark which statements come from the creator's current evidence pack, and separate suggestions from facts. Recheck audience claims, portfolio links, deliverables, price assumptions, rights, exclusivity, disclosure, production dates and approval ownership. A manager or creator should approve the final version, and the negotiation record should preserve the sent response rather than treat an editable AI conversation as the commercial source of truth.
Do not paste confidential brand material, unreleased campaign assets, private contacts or contract terms into a drafting surface unless the agreed data boundary permits it. AI can reduce administration, but it cannot authorize data sharing, grant usage rights, accept a deadline or promise performance on the creator's behalf.
Separate discovery sharing from campaign access
A PDF, an opt-in discovery setting and video-level brand access are different permissions. YouTube says channel insights sharing can expose aggregated channel statistics, audience breakdown and shopping performance through approved tools. It is off by default and controlled by the creator, although prior Creator Partnerships terms or third-party authentication may create additional sharing paths that need separate review.
Video-level brand partner access is a later campaign decision that can share non-public performance data and support paid boosting. Do not switch it on merely because a brand received the media kit. Record the recipient, purpose, data scope, platform control, approval owner and review date for every sharing route. A creator should be discoverable enough to evaluate while still limiting data and permissions to the job at hand.
Add commercial readiness without turning the kit into a contract
List the formats the creator is prepared to discuss, usual production lead time, working languages, location constraints and whether paid amplification, whitelisting, raw files, exclusivity or extended usage require separate negotiation. Rate guidance can be a starting range when the creator chooses, but it should not blur production, usage rights, media access, expenses and taxes into one unexplained number.
Keep the kit short enough to review. Detailed deliverables, approval rounds, payment terms, cancellation, disclosure, music, likeness and usage rights belong in the brief and agreement. The media kit opens a qualified conversation; it does not grant rights, promise a result or replace due diligence by either party.
Run a seven-step release and refresh check
Before sending, verify the recipient and campaign identity; confirm every profile URL; recalculate recent baselines from the named sample; open every portfolio link; remove unsupported cooperation claims; review the data-sharing boundary; and stamp the version with an owner and refresh date. Export one clean PDF or controlled link, then record where it was sent. Do not circulate editable source files containing hidden notes or old client material.
Review the kit monthly when deal volume is active, and immediately after a handle change, management change, platform methodology break, major audience shift or new commercial capability. KOLMKT's operating rule is simple: a media kit is ready when another operator can trace each important claim to a current public page or authorized platform view, understand what is not included, and know the next action without asking for a password.
- Identity and recipient verified
- Recent baselines recalculated
- Portfolio links and evidence classes checked
- Sharing permissions reviewed separately
- Commercial scope kept distinct from rights and contract terms
- Sensitive and stale material removed
- Version owner and next refresh date recorded
